Dengue toll in Bengal goes up to 14

Medical reports today confirmed that the death of a 59-year-old lady was caused by dengue, which took the toll from the vector-borne disease in West Bengal since January to 14.
The victim, a resident of Baranagar in North 24-Parganas district, died on Friday, Director of Health Services Biswaranjan Satpathy told PTI.
In the past 24 hours, 189 new cases of dengue infection have been reported in the state, taking the total number of affected to 1,742, he said.
"In total, 166 people are currently being treated in different hospitals around the state. Out of these 41 are admitted in the last 24 hours while 125 are old cases," he said.

According to Satpathy, most of the dengue cases were reported from Serampore in Hooghly district and North 24-Parganas district while some were received from Malda, Nadia, Darjeeling, and South 24-Parganas districts.
