Angry over denial of bonus by Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation, hundreds of employees today gheraoed the office of the financial advisor and kept him locked inside the toilet of his chamber for about an hour.
Nearly 300 employees, including women, drivers and sub-ordinate staff, entered the room of financial advisor Kamal Kishore, who rushed to a toilet at the RSRTC headquarters and locked himself up in there, a RSRTC official said.
Later, the employees bolted the door of the toilet from outside, he said.
The spokesman of RSRTC said police were called to rescue the financial advisor and disperse the agitating employees.
RSRTC CMD Bhaskar A Sawant also rushed to the spot to supervise the situation, the spokesman said.
No one was injured, nor anyone has been arrested by the police so far, he said.
The spokesman said at a Governing Council Meeting yesterday, the Roadways had announced that bonus will not be given to the employees this year.
It was Kamal Kishore who had prepared the report on the basis of which the decision against giving the bonus was taken.
As RSRTC is in the red, September's salary of employees at 38 depots is still pending he said, adding that a bank has sanctioned a loan of Rs 25 crore for the Roadways administration on the approval of the state government.
Now, the employees will get their September month's salary, he added.
