Haryana State Commission for Women chief Kamlesh Panchal today directed heads of all government offices to constitute committees to hear complaints of sexual harassment, send related information online to the commission and a copy to the Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner.
Panchal attended a meeting of all the heads of government offices located in Gurgaon. She also directed private schools and colleges to appoint lady guards or depute a female teacher in each of the school buses as a precautionary measure to avoid eve-teasing or sexual harassment with any student.
At times, a girl student might be the last one to be dropped and the possibilities of sexual offence cannot be ruled out in such cases.
Principals of educational institutions have to be extra cautious in this regard and they should check who is to be dropped from the school bus last, she said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Pushpender Singh Chauhan apprised the commission chairperson that the district level committee was being headed by him and till now it has received three complaints.
One complaint was found to be false as the complainant could not be traced even after several efforts. Two other complaints were being investigated.
He said other members of the district level committee are City Magistrate, Deputy Civil Surgeon, Programme Officer of Integrated Child Development Scheme and two representatives from NGOs.
