Deputy Commissioner takes stock of dengue menace in Faridabad

Faridabad Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Agrawal today took stock of dengue cases in the city, even as hospitals claimed that there have been around 400 cases of dengue as well as two deaths due to the vector-borne disease here.
Addressing a meeting with the concerned officials of the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that diseases like dengue, chikangunia, malaria and typhoid have to be controlled by taking necessary precautions.
Everyone should ensure that there is no case of stagnant water in the area. In case of water filled pits, water in old tyres, drums etc, it should be cleared once a week, he said.
Agrawal, meanwhile stated that only 26 dengue cases have been reported in the city and no deaths were reported.
However, state-run B K Hospital confirmed that around 400 dengue cases have been reported.
We have received 400 dengue cases referred from various other hospitals, both government and private, a hospital official said.
Dr S S Bansal, Managing Director Metro Hospital Faridabad said that till now 135 patients of dengue have been treated by them.
He also confirmed that one of his patients died during treatment on September 13.
The name of the deceased has been identified as Jai Prakash, 40, a resident of Badshahpur in Kheri Kalan.
Another case was reported from Asian Hospital in which a 40-year-old lady Anita Satija died on September 16.
