Deputy jailor shot dead in Varanasi

A deputy jailor of the Varanasi district jail was shot dead allegedly by four unidentified persons while he was on way to gym this morning near Mahavir temple here.
As soon as 45-year-old Anil Tyagi came out of his car and started walking towards the gym, four persons on motorbike chased him and started indiscriminate firing, hitting him on the temple, stomach and back, police said.
Tyagi, who received five bullet injuries, was rushed to nearby Deen Dayal government hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said.
A hunt has been launched to nab the attackers, they said.
