Devendra Kumar Verma appointed anti-corruption officer in DVC

Forest service officer Devendra Kumar Verma was today appointed as Chief Vigilance Officer of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) in Kolkata.
Verma, a 1986 batch Indian Forest Service officer of Kerala cadre, has been appointed to the post for an initial period of three years, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.
His tenure is further extendable upto May 31, 2021, i.E. the date of his superannuation, it said.
A Chief Vigilance Officer acts as distant arm of Central Vigilance Commission to check corruption in an organisation.
