The landlosers under the banner of Nalco Land Affected Persons Association (NLAPA) have been on a dharna in front of the main gate of the PSU at Damanjodi in the district for the last 24 days, NLAPA president Bhima Khillo said today.
All 600 people who lost both their homes and land were given jobs at the PSU's Damanjodi unit but no permanent job was provided to the 416 people who had lost their land during the establishment of the company in the early 80s, he said.
The administration, he said, has called for a meeting with the landlosers and company officials tomorrow to sort out the issue.
"If the issue is not resolved, we will intensify our stir," he said.
Sub-Collector (Koraput) Mohammed Azfar said last month the administration had conducted a meeting with the land losers and Nalco officials but the PSU refused to give any assurance to provide jobs to them.
