Haryana government today extended the term of Justice S N Dhingra Commission, set up to probe grant of license(s) to some entities, including businessman Robert Vadra's company in Gurgaon, for six months till June 2016.
"Haryana government has extended the term of Justice S N Dhingra (Retd) Commission of Inquiry for a period of six months from December 8, 2015 to June 7, 2016 on the same terms and conditions," said an official spokesman here.
The state BJP government had in May this year appointed a retired Judge of Delhi High Court, Justice S N Dhingra, as one-man Commission of Inquiry to probe issues concerning the grant of license(s) for developing commercial colonies by the Department of Town and Country Planning, Haryana to some entities in Gurgaon sector 83.
The Commission was to probe subsequent transfer or disposal of lands, allegations of private enrichment, ineligibility of beneficiaries under the rules and other connected matters, ultimately bringing Vadra land deal under the scanner.
The Commission was to submit its report to the government within six months from the date of its first sitting.
Notably, BJP had made land deals under the previous Congress regime in Haryana a major poll issue during the last year's election, alleging that land rules were relaxed to favour a few, including Vadra, the son-in-law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
