A sombre looking Mahendra Singh Dhoni left the Feroz Shah Kotla separately while the other members of the Jharkhand squad left by team bus after their 41-run loss to Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy semi-finals.
Dhoni, who was the best performer for his side scoring 70 off 62 balls with four sixes was understandably upset after his team bowled poorly and also lost wickets in a heap after he was dismissed. Jharkhand's last six wickets fell for 38 runs.
"Yes, Dhoni left in a private car separately after the match. The rest of the Jharkhand boys left by team bus," a DDCA official said.
It is not new for star players to commute separately from the team and a lot of India players do that.
However this season, Dhoni has been travelling with the team and also staying at the team hotel in places like Delhi.
Dhoni in fact travelled to Kolkata by train during the group league phase of Vijay Hazare Trophy.
To make matters worse, a Jharkhand player's kitbag got misplaced as porter put his stuff on the Bengal team bus.
"Yes, the DDCA staff by mistake put a Jharkhand player's kitbag in Bengal team bus. The kit is in Bengal hotel and will be delivered back to the concerned player," DDCA media manager Salil Seth said.
