Digitisation of land records for Jammu, Srinagar to be

Digitisation of land records in Jammu and Srinagar districts under the 'Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme' would be finalised by March, an official said today.
Digitisation of land records would be taken up in two tehsils, one each in Jammu and Srinagar districts, in the first phase of the national programme in Jammu and Kashmir. This should be finalised by March, an official spokesman said here.
Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Abdul Rehman Veeri said that Land Records Management Agency (LRMA) officials have been asked to speed up the process of the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP).

He said this while chairing a meeting with revenue officers to review the progress on the digitisation process of land records in Jammu and Kashmir.
Phase-I of the DILRMP was initiated in November 2015, the minister said.
The LRMA has taken up the process for the districts. This includes scanning of revenue documents, maps and digitisation of cadastral maps, establishment of ground control points and development of web-based geo-information systems, he said.

Digitisation of land records for Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Ramban, Doda, Baramulla, Anantnag, Bandipora, Leh and Kargil districts would be taken up in the second phase starting from March 2018 to March 2020.

For Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Shopian, Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama and Kupwara districts the process would be taken up in the third phase starting from April 2020 to March 2022, he added.
The minister said that digitisation of land records would bring much needed transparency in land mapping at the individual and institutional levels.
He directed the officials concerned to ensure that digitisation work in Jammu and Srinagar districts be finalised by March 2018.
Officials were directed to speed up the process by employing additional manpower and to furnish exact details of land retrieved, so that the necessary funds can be arranged.
