Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh today criticised RSS functionary Manmohan Vaidya over his reservation remarks.
"We strongly condemn the statement made by RSS leaders on the question of reservation and quota," the AICC general secretary said here today.
Vaidya, RSS publicity chief, had yesterday kicked up a row with remarks favouring a review of the reservation policy, saying even the architect of the Constitution B R Ambedkar had not favoured its continuance in perpetuity.
Criticising Vaidya, the Congress leader said, "The senior RSS leader has been misquoting Dr Ambedkar."
"The RSS, from the very beginning, has opposed the Indian Constitution and also the reservation policy in totality," he said.
Responding to a question over Goa election, Singh said the party would field 37 candidates in the state polls.
"We are supporting independent candidate Rohan Khaunte in Porvorim constituency and Atanasio Monserrate in Panaji," he said.
According to Singh, Congress has fielded new faces as well as experienced leaders for the Goa polls.
Singh announced that the party's Goa Manifesto would be released on January 23.
He also said AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi will campaign for party in the last week of January.
