District panchayat official caught taking bribe

An Assistant Director posted in the district panchayat office here was today nabbed by the Lokayukta police while accepting bribe, police said.
The accused, identified as Salamuddin Ansari, had demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe from one Rahul Soni for sanctioning grant to purchase an embroidery machine, Lokayukta Inspector Basant Shrivastava said.
Upon receiving a complaint from Soni, the Lokayukta sleuths laid a trap and Ansari was caught red-handed, he said.
Further probe is on, he added.
