According to a senior official, DJB decided to rationalise the lower tariff slab for properties where some commercial activity takes place in which water is used as an input, including restaurants, dhabas, juice shops, snacks counters, tea shops, salons, barber shops, beauty parlours, dentist clinics, etc.
The benefit can be availed by connections where water is being used by people visiting commercial units like coaching institutes, clinics, offices with high footfall, etc., an official said.
"It is hoped that the move will encourage consumers to opt for authorised water connections from DJB since there are a number of commercial units which do not have an intensive use of water, but because of the earlier commercial tariff rates even for the lowest category, did not opt for the commercial category," a senior officer said.
