DM asks illicit liquor makers to shift to other occupation

Top district officials today paid a visit to Govindpur Mushahri village here where a youth was killed on Sunday allegedly by people linked with illegal manufacture of liquor.
Patna District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj and others visited the village and exhorted villagers to shift to alternative occupation for livelihood.
The DM told the villagers that the state government provides subsidy on loan for starting works like rearing of cattle, poultry etc.
The village had come into focus following the brutal killing of a youth on February 19 under Phulwarisharif Police Station allegedly by people linked with illegal manufacture of liquor.
During subsequent raids in the village, huge quantity of illicit domestic liquor was found hidden in drums dumped inside earth.
The DM instructed banks to provide financial assistance to people under the Mudra Yojana, an official statement said.
Aggarwal also directed district officials to provide social security pension to all eligibles after conducting a survey.
The Civil Surgeon was told to set up a health camp in the area.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Phulwarisharif Police Station has been suspended in the case and a police outpost opened in the village to maintain peace.
