The DMK would stage a black flag demonstration against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Tamil Nadu on April 15 over the Cauvery issue, party working president M K Stalin said here today.
After chairing the party's executive committee meeting on the matter, Stalin told reporters the black flag stir would be part of the next course of action his party would take up over the river water sharing issue.
The demonstration was to lodge the party's protest against the Centre for not setting up the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) and Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee.
Asked if he would meet Modi on setting up the CMB, the DMK leader said there was no reply from the Centre, despite several letters in this regard.
Following the over two hour meet,Stalin, who is the Leader of Opposition in the assembly, said a "massive demonstration" would be held against the Central and state governments, which are "enacting dramas," over the Cauvery issue.
Leaders of all friendly parties would be consulted on April 1 on the kind of big ticket agitation to be organised and a decision would be announced, he said.
A resolution was adopted at the meet, condemning the 'inaction' of the Central and State governments over the Cauvery issue.
Another resolution authorised Stalin to hold an "all party meet" to decide on the kind of stir to be adopted against the Central and State governments over this issue.
Opposing the proposed India-based Neutrino Observatory project at Theni in Tamil Nadu, a resolution asked the state government to approach the National Green Tribunal against the environmental clearance given to it by the Centre.
The meet also asked the Tamil Nadu government to put on hold the clearance to be given by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board to the project.
