Docs should create awareness on health care: Ker Guv

Kerala Governor P Sathasivam today urged doctors to create awareness about the need for health care among the people, particularly marginalised sections of society, who approach hospitals in advanced stage of diseases.
Patients, be it poor or affluent, were approaching the doctors in advanced stage of diseases and the doctors should provide necessary health information, so that they can approach at an early stage, Sathasivam said tonight.
Releasing a book in Tamil on "Liver, a Protector, written by Dr V G Mohanprasad, a leading gastroenterologist, here, he also asked the doctors to strictly follow the standards prescribed by the Medical Council of India and also code of ethics, while discharging their duty.
Both Crpc and IPC did not prevent doctors from attending to any accident patients and no law will be against them, Sathasivam, a former chief justice of India, said.
Similarly, the doctors should come forward to provide disability certificate to all the disabled, since they required it for education and employment purpose, he said.
