A doctor was allegedly assaulted by some persons at the district hospital here following which four of them have been arrested, police said today.
The incident occurred late last night when around seven to eight persons brought one Prashant (22), who met with an accident, at the district hospital, Chief Medical Officer Hargovind Singh said.
They insisted that Dr Akhilesh Verma, who was on emergency duty, attend to Prashant first. When the doctor asked them to wait as he was attending other patients, they allegedly misbehaved and then assaulted him, the CMO said.
Medical services were affected for sometime after the incident as the staff threatened to go on strike, but they were pacified by the CMO.
Following a complaint, an FIR has been lodged by the police against seven persons in this connection, he said.
Four accused involved in the incident, Ashish, Manish, Harshit and Rama Devi have been arrested, police said.
