"It is unfortunate that we resident doctors who are considered the backbone of any hospital are exploited to such level that we are slowly being forced to resort to the medium of strikes to let our voices to be heard or ultimately leaving the government sector job.
"Despite many promises, doctors were not paid. We have decided to approach court," said Dr Pankaj Solanki, president, FORDA.
"We do not want to inconvenience the patients, but, doctors from the MCD hospitals have not received their salaries for three or four months and daily survival has become a struggle for them," Dr Solanki said.
"We clearly do not want to go on strikes as a medium to get our demands. Yet if MCD doctors are not paid their salary we shall have to resort to direct action," he said.
The doctors had previously gone on a week-long strike from December 18. The strike was called off after promises were made that salaries would be paid by the end of the month.
