Announcing this here, TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee and senior party leader Subrata Mukherjee jointly told a press conference that Sen would contest the seat which fell vacant following resignation by Srinjoy Bose on February 5 in the aftermath of the Saradha chit fund scam.
Srinjoy's term was due to expire on August 18, 2017.
Subrata Mukherjee would replace Dola Sen in INTTUC, TMC's labour wing. Senior party leaders Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay and Pradip Banerjee would assist Mukherjee as working presidents in INTTUC, Chatterjee said.
Polling, if needed, would be held on March 20 and the counting of votes would be held the same evening.
