Talking to reporters here, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said Congress should desist from personal attacks. "If they indulge in this, then there is much more that we can talk about," he said.
"I think Congress should stop here. If personal attacks begin, then Congress has many skeletons in its cupboard and if we open it, they will have nowhere to hide. We don't want to stoop to a low level," Javadekar said.
Congress leader Kapil Sibal moved the Election Commission seeking action against Modi over the issue.
Javadekar also questioned Congress's "silence" on the controversial statement made by SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav regarding the death penalty for rape convicts. "Why is Congress still silent on the issue? We want to ask Congress, is this secularism?" he said.
