Filmmaker Doug Liman has been roped in by New Regency and Ubisoft Motion Pictures to direct 'Splinter Cell'.
The video game adaptation will star Tom Hardy, reported Deadline.
'Splinter Cell', based on the books of Tom Clancy, chronicles a highly trained agent of a fictional black-ops sub-division within the NSA called the Third Echelon.
Hardy is set to play the skilled agent, Sam Fisher, who will take on international terrorist threats and rogue forces.
Liman just wrapped up directing duty on 'Edge Of Tomorrow' with Tom Cruise.
Fox will distribute the film.
