The 41-year-old "Blended" star didn't have the greatest upbringing and landed in rehab at the age of 14. She also spent 18 months in an institution for the mentally ill.
But, thankfully she says her kids Olive, three, and Frankie, two, are showing no signs of becoming troubled teens, and in fact they've really helped mum grow up, reported Extra.
"My daughters have made me behave as the person I always dreamed to be," she said noting her destructive behavioural patterns seem to be gone for good.
"Somehow my daughters have just pushed me over and I still fail all the time and I just get home at night and I'm like, 'I didn't lose it, I somehow took the high road 'cause you forced me to'."
Barrymore shares her two little girls with estranged husband Will Kopelman, who the star split from earlier this year.
