One District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was today injured in an exchange of fire with Naxals in a dense forest of Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said.
The skirmish took place in the forest of Jongeras village under Kukanar police station limits when a team of security personnel was out on an anti-Maoist operation in the region, Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI.
When the patrolling team reached in the forest of Jongeras, it came under fire from a group of ultras following which a gun-battle broke out, he said.
However, soon ultras fled from the spot on finding security forces zeroing on them, he said.
"A DRG constable sustained minor injuries in the incident. He was admitted to a local hospital where his condition was said to be normal," the SP said.
