An employee of WBFDCL was killed and a senior official critically injured after the car carrying them collided head-on with a truck on NH 31 in Jalpaiguri district, police said.
The incident happened near Nilpara Range Office in Hasimara at 2 am on Saturday, the police said.
The official of West Bengal Forest Development Corporation (WBFDCL) and her driver were travelling to Hasimara from Mongpong when the accident happened, a police officer said.
Police personnel from the Hasimara outpost took the forest official and the driver to a private hospital in Siliguri where he was declared brought dead.
The WBFDCL official, Sweata Rai, has been admitted to the hospital and her condition is stated to be critical, the police officer said.
The car's driver, Sukhraj Rai (54), was a resident of Darjeeling district.
