Drunk father kills son in Meerut

A 17-year-old youth was shot dead by his inebriated father when he objected against the latter's drinking habit, police said today.
The incident occurred yesterday when the accused, Suresh Pal (40), reached home in a drunk condition in Batavli village and he had an argument with his son Deepak over his drinking habit, Behsuma police station in-charge Ram Ratan Yadav said.
Angered by his son's protestations, the accused shot him dead with a country-made pistol, after which Pal fled from the spot, they said.
On the basis of a complaint given by the relatives of the deceased today a case was registered against the father and efforts are on to nab him, police said, adding, the body has been sent for postmortem.
