A woman and her son, who had allegedly beaten to death a 42-year-old DTC bus driver after the bus had grazed past his bike, were today remanded to 14 days in judicial custody by a court here.
Metropolitan Magistrate Sushant Changotra sent 22-year-old Vijay and his mother Roshni to judicial custody till May 25 after they were produced in the court by the police.
The police did not seek custodial interrogation of the two accused, residents of Mundka in west Delhi, and said they be sent to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the court also issued a notice to the concerned authorities of a government school in Nangloi to bring Vijay's date of birth records for ascertaining his age.
While Vijay was arrested late last night, his mother, who is accused of instigating him in the crime, was arrested today morning. A case was registered at Mundka Police Station.
According to the police, the incident took place yesterday morning when DTC bus driver Ashok Kumar was attacked by the biker following the accident in Mundka area.
Police said no passenger of the bus or any passerby came forward to save Kumar as he was allegedly attacked by Vijay.
It had not revealed the identity of the biker earlier, saying he might be a minor. Police said that Vijay had beaten Kumar with his helmet and fire extinguisher continuously for a few minutes and then fled the spot.
Kumar was driving a low-floor, non-AC bus of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) which was going from Karampura to Bahadurgarh. Investigators said the biker and his mother, a woman pillion rider, fell on the road after the bus grazed past their motorcycle before the driver was attacked.
Delhi government has announced a compensation of Rs five lakh to the victim's family and said a permanent job in the transport department will be given to one family member of the deceased.
