DU law students on hunger strike again over mass failures

Delhi University's law students have again launched an indefinite hunger strike over the failure of over 50 per cent students in the semester exams.
The students alleged there was some problem with the results that were declared last month as some of them have been marked absent even though they appeared in the exam, while the scores of a few others were revised later.
Following declaration of results, the students had last month gone on a strike which was called off after the authorities had assured them of looking into their grievances.
"We have been talking to the authorities since last month and exploring the re-evaluation options as well but nothing has materialised forcing us to go back on strike again," a protesting student said.

The Faculty of Law has three centres - Law Centre I (LC I), Campus Law Centre (CLC) and Law Centre II (LC II). CLC usually admits the highest scorers of the entrance test.
A total of 882 students out of 1944 students have failed in at least one subject in the semester examination.
However, this is not the first time that the varsity's Law Faculty has reported mass failures. But a similar situation was prevalent in the department last year as well.
Meanwhile, Law Faculty Dean SC Rana was not available for his comments on the issue.
