Duplicate Samsung phones worth Rs 50 lakh seized

Duplicate mobile phones and accessories of a popular brand worth Rs 50 lakh were seized from various shops here and nine persons arrested in this connection today, police said.
Acting on a complaint about sale of mobile phones allegedly made in China under Samsung brand, anti-piracy cell police raided various shops in the Gandhipuram market area and seized 176 mobile phones and 1,900 accessories.
Labels and stickers of the brand were also found during the raid, police said, adding that all the handsets and accessories were made in China.
