Effective implementation of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), opening of new colleges, and zero balance bank account and insurance for all the students are among the key issues on agenda of BJP's youth wing ABVP for the upcoming DUSU polls.
Other issues listed by the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parsihad (ABVP) in its manifesto which was released here today include renaming of a road as "Nirbhaya Marg" in the university campus, round the clock helpline numbers for women safety, remedial classes for SC/ST/OBC students and concessional passes for DU students for travelling in metro.
The high-voltage DUSU polls will be held this Friday and the counting of votes will take place on Saturday.
ABVP which has been one of the key parties in the poll fray over the decades and had last year swept all four seats, has fielded Satender Awana from Department of Buddhist Studies as their Presidential candidate and Sunny Dedha from Faculty of Law as the Vice Presidential nominee.
Those nominated by the party for the post of Secretary and Joint Secretary include - Anjali Rana from Lakshmi Bai college and Chatrapal Yadav from Department of Buddhist Studies.
"It has been over 20 years since a new college has been opened in Delhi University. Students are forced to study in private colleges and universities. We will struggle with the administration to open new colleges under university of Delhi. Also, new evening colleges should be opened in the existing buildings immediately," the party said in its manifesto.
The issue of hostels also found a mention in the poll promises.
"Hostel and lodging is a major issue for outstation students studying in university of Delhi. ABVP will struggle for implementation of Room Rent Control Act, and demand for new hostels for undergraduate and post graduate students," it said.
Effective working of north east cells in all the colleges and frequent meetings of nodal officers to address the problems faced by north east students are also on party's agenda.
In addition to all this, the party has also asked for campus specific demands like a closed and compact campus and special bus service for North campus, new sports complex in South campus, acceleration of work on allotted land for East campus, increase in police security near east Delhi colleges and establishment of a campus in west Delhi.
ABVP had also launched a campaign song yesterday to woo the voters.
