Delhi University teachers today held a protest and demanded roll back of the varsity's move of retrospective application of API.
The protestors were led by the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) said the regulation had denied promotion to more than 3,000 teachers for over five to seven years.
Explaining drawbacks of the policy, the teachers said, the retrospective application of API from Dec 31, 2008, almost five years before its adoption by the Executive Council, has disadvantaged the teachers.
"The promotion scheme that they did not know about, gives little chance for teachers to fulfil the criteria, unless they are allowed to go back in time," DUTA chief Nandita Narain said in a release.
Though the current vice chancellor was appraised about the situation when took charge, it has been a year since then and no efforts have been taken by the administration to resolve this crisis, she said.
Other demands were for consideration of past service for promotion and extending of some provisions like relief in terms of compensation for leave period, counting preparation hours, internal assessment, relaxation in capping.
A delegation of the DUTA will meet the Pro-VC tomorrow to discuss the matter.
