Dwarka to get 700-bed hospital-cum medical college

Delhi Government today approved a long-pending proposal to set up a 700-bedded hospital-cum medical college in Dwarka area of south west Delhi.
The proposal for setting up of the Indira Gandhi hospital was taken at a cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
"Our government is committed to provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare to residents of Delhi. Hence, we have been expanding the healthcare infrastructure," Dikshit said.
The hospital, to be set up on a 15 acre plot, will have 1.28 lakh built-up area with ground floor plus nine floors and two basements.
The Chief Minister said the hospital at Sector 9 in Dwarka will provide comprehensive healthcare to the residents of West Delhi and neighbouring localities.

"It would provide round-the-clock emergency services, maternity services and surgical facilities. It will be a super-specialty hospital," said Dikshit.

The hospital would be developed as per green building concept.
The annual intake for admission in the medical college would be 150 students.
"The hospital will be developed as a Centre of advanced healthcare," Dikshit said .
The cabinet has also decided to extend facilities under Delhi Government Employee Health Scheme (DGEHS) to senior resident doctors working in the city government hospitals.
The benefit has been sanctioned keeping in view the similar facilities being provided by the Union Government in its hospitals to the senior resident doctors.
