The 43-year-old "San Andreas" star joined a campaign to raise fund for Johnson the dog after a Los Angeles shelter SPOT! found the 4-month-old puppy in an appalling condition, reported Aceshowbiz.
"He was dumped at North Central Shelter with a large metal wire wrapped around the bottom portion of his mouth," the description on GoFundMe read.
The dog suffers from a grade 5 heart murmur that requires a USD 4,500 surgery.
The "Furious 7" star's affection towards dogs is not new.
SPOT! named the puppy after Johnson "because he is going to need to be a great fighter to win this battle.
