East Coast Railway registers improved loading

After emerging as the highest loading zone of the Railways with a record show in 2014-15, East Coast Railway (ECoR) continued to improve its performance by loading 41.22 MT in the first quarter this fiscal which is 6.98 per cent more than the corresponding period last year.
In 2014-15, ECoR became the highest loading zone by achieving a record loading of 161.91 MT, registering a growth of 8.30 per cent over the previous year's loading of 149.50 MT, ECoR General Manager Rajiv Vishnoi said.
ECoR also carried 89.84 million passengers against 88.83 million in 2013-14 and bagged the Traffic Transportation Shield and Personnel Management Shield at National level for such outstanding performances, Vishnoi said at the Independence Day celebrations of ECoR here yesterday.
On the performance of the current financial year, Vishnoi said during the first quarter, ECoR has loaded 41.22 MT up to June 2015 of the current fiscal, which is 6.98 per cent more than that of corresponding period of last year.
Vishnoi, who unfurled the national flag and exchanged salute in the parade, asked Railway workforce to dedicate their efforts in nation building through hard work for smooth running of Railway system.
Praising the dedicated service by the employees, he said successful commissioning of Delang-Puri doubling, new station building at Malatipatpur and the tourist complex well before the Nabakalebar festival of Lord Jagannath, helped ECoR in running as many as 218 of special trains during the period, satisfying the aspirations of lakhs of pilgrims during the festival.
Apart from this, 176 special trains were also provided for the benefit of the passengers for Maha Puskaralu Mela at Godavari and celebration arrangements were made for pilgrims.
Highlighting the achievements of ECoR, Vishnoi said it ran 588 special trains and augmented 1121 coaches in regular trains to clear waitlisted passengers.
