Election Commission today asked officers concerned to formulate a joint action plan to ensure transparency in the by-polls for the Anantnag Assembly constituency, which fell vacant following death of then chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7.
"The officers should formulate a joint action plan to ensure transparency in the bye-election, with no scope of error. They should put concerted efforts to make the by-poll a success," Deputy Chief Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena said.
Saxena, who is on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir from May 24, was chairing a meeting to review the preparedness for the upcoming by-poll for the Anantnag Assembly constituency scheduled to be held on June 19.
District Election Officer, Anantnag, Syed Abid informed the meeting that a comprehensive joint plan by the district administration and police has already been formulated for which efficient officers have been assigned duties.
Saxena asked the Officer to submit the plans to CEC at an earliest so that same are approved in time.
He said that concerned officers should highlight issues in advance so that they can be resolved well in time.
The meeting was attended among others by Chief Electoral Officer, Shantamanu, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Hassan Samoon and Inspector General of Police Kashmir, S J M Gillani, an official spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, Saxena held a meeting with Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir division here to review the progress of Election Commission's new intensive drive National Electoral Rolls Purification (NERP) 2016.
The NERP 2016 process includes enrollment of all eligible citizens and removal of repeated and multiple entries, dead electors, shifted and absent voters, correction of errors in EPIC and removal of other data errors, the spokesman said.
