Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar today said education is incomplete without physical education and students must exercise, do yoga and aerobics.
Addressing 'Chintan Shivir', a two-day national workshop here, he stressed on the importance of value-based education and staying fit.
Javadekar said one must inculcate these attributes in his behaviour for holistic development.
The shivir is a national workshop aimed at providing holistic education relevant for 21st century and to bring together key stakeholders from various NGOs, private sector and individuals to deliberate on key themes in the education sector.
"Education is incomplete without physical education. Students must exercise, do yoga, aerobics, running depending on their choice to stay fit and healthy," the Union minister said.
He further said that "life skill education" and "value education" is the need of the hour and one must inculcate these attributes in his behaviour for holistic development.
"The government and various other organisations working in the field of education should be involved in content corporation and create a common digital platform to provide digital education for all students of the country," Javadekar said.
On the occasion, he launched a compendium on 'Innovations and Best Practices in School Education' and a State-NGO-CSR Portal - 'Shaala Sarathi'.
Minister of State for HRD Satyapal Singh said, "Complete development involves development of human body, mind, wisdom and soul."
Human body can be developed through physical education and wisdom can be gained by value education. We must teach our children the value of life and education, he said.
