Egypt braces for Islamist protest

Egyptians today braced for a major protest by Islamists calling for the toppling of the government.
A number of Cairo's main roads, including Tahrir square, Rabaa square and Al-Azhar tunnel, were blocked by security and army forces ahead of the protest.
Security reinforcements were deployed in many places in the country to confront any expected terror or violent attacks that could take place tomorrow, security officials said.
Minister of Interior Mohamed Ibrahim pledged last week that the police will have a "zero tolerance" towards any violence or law-breaking incidents.
He also vowed a new police task force to combat terrorism and saboteurs, who are planning, what they called as mass rallies on November 28.

The Islamists' call for nationwide rallies is the first attempt in months to hold large protests in the wake of a crackdown since the military's ouster last year of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.
