Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour across Gujarat today with people from the Muslim community offering prayers at Mosques and exchanging greetings.
Attired in new clothes, men and children today visited Eidgahs and mosques for prayers. Major congregations were seen at historic Jumma Masjid where around 35,000 people offered namaz.
Prayers were offered at Sidi Syed's Masjid, Rani Seepri's Masjid, Sarkhej Roza and other mosques in Ahmedabad on Eid, which marks the culmination of holy month of Ramzan.
Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel also extended her wishes on the festival to the Muslim community.
"My heartfelt greetings to all Muslim brothers and sisters on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Eid Mubarak," Patel said on micro-blogging site Twitter.
As Eid coincided with the 138th Lord Jagannath's Rathyatra today, special security arrangements were made.
Around 20,000 security personnel have been deployed to ensure smooth celebration of both the festivals.
People from Muslim community took part in feasts with their friends and family.
