Eight BHEL employees suspended
Press Trust of India Dehradun Eight employees of BHEL, Haridwar have been suspended for allegedly roughing up other employees of the company to stop them from discharging their duties on September 2 when trade unions went on a strike against the Centre's labour policies.
The eight suspended employees are accused of even hitting two senior manager-level officials and tearing their clothes to prevent them from entering the company's gates during the nationwide strike, a BHEL spokesman said.
Angered by the action, BHEL Workers' Union shouted slogans against the management demanding withdrawal of their suspension.
"It was a desperate step taken by the management because of the success of the strike," BHEL labour Union leader Rajbir Singh said.
