"Sale of Amma Salt will be launched in New Delhi,Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh soon by the Tamil Nadu Salt Corporation", the policy note tabled in the assembly said.
As of August 2015 around 6,760 metric tonnes of Amma Salt were sold in the state, an 'overwhelming response' in the state, it said.
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, addressed as "Amma" (mother) by her supporters, had launched Amma Double Fortified Salt, low sodium salt and refined free flow iodised salt on June 11 last year, priced at Rs 25, Rs 21 and Rs 14.
The policy note also said that the state government planned to distribute Amma Salt in five kg and 25 kg packs to hotels, hospitals and hostels in the State.
