Eight smugglers have been arrested with a large quantity of liquor from GT road, under Town police station, in Bihar's Aurangabad district, the police said today.
During vehicle checking near Keshav crossing last evening, the police intercepted two SUVs and found a large quantity of liquor smuggled in from Haryana.
Eight occupants of the vehicles, all smugglers, were arrested and the consignment comprising 875 liquor bottles of two different brands, besides 115 bottles of country-made liquor from Jharkhand, seized, SP Satya Prakash said.
Six mobile phones were also seized from the smugglers, he added.
Among those arrested on liquor smuggling charges, three were from Haryana and the others were locals, Satya Prakash said.
The accused will be produced in court, the SP added.
Bihar has banned liquor consumption in the state from April this year.
