Elderly couple murdered in sleep in UP

An elderly couple was found dead with throats slit in their house at Baiswara area here, police said today.
Aqil (70) and Shakila Khatoon (65) were allegedly murdered in their sleep last night by unknown persons who slit their throats, they said.
Household items were found scattered which indicates that the couple were murdered to loot the house, police added.
The incident came to light when the victims' neighbours informed the police after they didn't see any movement in the house since this morning, they said.
A case has been registered and investigation was underway, police said.
