As per Kolkata Police sources, the post mortem report was still "awaited" as the doctors were "confused" with certain questions regarding marks on Sunanda Ganguly's body.
"There were no injury marks on her body but there was blood clot inside her head which can be due to many reasons... It can be if she was hit from behind or even if she had fell down... Doctors are taking some time to ensure the exact cause," a senior officer of Kolkata Police told PTI adding that a suo motu case was started at the Bhowanipore Police Station.
Locals alleged that Sunanda, separated from her husband Buddhadeb for a few years, was murdered by some promoters of the area who were eyeing the land of the old building for long time.
It was learnt that Police has spoken to Buddhadeb and one promoter from the area in connection with the tragedy.
Residents of the area also alleged that the promoters had allegedly kidnapped the old woman a couple of years back.
"We are looking into the matter from all aspects and trying to check out what had actually happened or it was a case of accident or not," the senior officer said.
