Shatrughan Paswan, a retired SECL (South Eastern Coalfields Limited) employee, was yesterday arrested for rape bid on the minor girl, who resides in his neighbourhood in Old Mines Colony under Bhatgaon police station limits, SHO Pradyuman Tiwari said.
As per the complaint, the child was playing along with the accused's grandchild in the locality when Paswan brought her to his home on Saturday evening.
While he was trying to outrage her modesty in a room, someone from his family arrived there following which he left the girl, the SHO said.
A case has been registered against the accused, he said adding the further probe is underway.
