Elephants damage houses and crops

A herd of forty elephants damaged 14 houses and crops in a vast field in Chandabila forest range area in West Midnapore district, a forest offcial said today.
The elephants have come from the Dalma hills and are moving around the area and damaged 14 houses and standing crops in about 50 hectares in the past three days, Divisional Forest Officer, Kharagpur Range, Anjan Guha said.
Arrangementas are being made to contain the animals, he said.
