An eminent lawyer, who represented several Bollywood actors including Salman Khan in different cases, received a Rs two crore extortion threat today from two unidentified men in suburban Bandra, police said here.
According to police, two men reached advocate Dipesh Mehta's residence-cum-office located at Bandra's 28th Road and handed over a flower bouquet with a threatening letter in an envelope, to one of his staff members, this afternoon.
A letter and a live cartridge was found when the envelope was opened, a Bandra police station officer said.
"Identifying himself as 'Azad', the writer of the letter, demanded that Mehta send Rs two crore through his driver, or else he would kill Mehta," the police officer said.
Subsequently, Mehta's junior advocate approached the Bandra police and lodged a complaint on his behalf, the police said.
Mehta had represented actor Salman Khan in his court cases between 2002 and 2012. He also represented several other Bollywood personalities in various cases.
