Kamlesh, 25, was arrested from Barabanki yesterday. Over Rs 1.5 lakh of the cash looted and jewellery was recovered from him, said DCP(south east) Mandip Singh Randhawa.
Police said the accused had hit the lady with the hammer he had brought with him. The hammer was recovered from him.
He had also tried to strangulate the woman.
Kamlesh, who had taken a one-month leave from the shop run by the deceased on the pretext of illness of his son, was seen roaming near her house on the day of murder in a CCTV footage.
