Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today sought Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's intervention in meeting demands relating to wages and other issues of 108 ambulance services employees.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Pradhan, a senior BJP leader said he has received petition from some Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on alleged non-payment of wages and job harassment.
These EMTs have highlighted the need for payment of wages on a fixed date, details of payments and deduction in the wage slip, overtime allowance as per provision of labour laws, provision of provident fund, annual increment, payment of TA/DA and periodic wage revision, he said.
Pradhan said the EMTs also want timely repair of ambulances and equipment as well as their proper maintenance, besides proper management of harassment and management.
In their letter, the EMTs have stated that they are foot soldiers of the Emergency Medical Ambulance Services (EMAS) and their hard work not only make healthcare reach the doorstep of patients but save precious human lives, he said.
"I take this opportunity to request you to kindly take up the matter for necessary action to redress the grievances made by the poor employees involved in operating 108 ambulance services," Pradhan said in his letter.
