"To address the challenges, state governments have been advised to explore the possibilities of upgrading the internet connectivity with internet service provides," Minister of State for Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
It is not true the eNAM is not working well. However, availability of high internet speed in few mandis situated in remote areas is a "challenge" to carry out the transaction.
So far, 471 agri-mandis in 14 states and one union territory are integrated with eNAM, which was launched in 2016. Additional 114 mandis will be connected by end of March.
The government is encouraging online bidding at regulated wholesale markets to ensure farmers get better price.
