An engineer who had accused local Samajwadi Party MLA Narad Rai of manhandling and threatening him has been transferred from the district.
Hargovind Chaubey, an assistant engineer at Processing and Construction Cooperative Limited (PACCFED), has now been attached to the main office at the state headquarter in Lucknow to facilitate ongoing inquiry against him in another case, Executive engineer Vinay Kumar Singh said today.
A fax by the managing director was received here in this matter, he said.
Chaubey had submitted a written complaint to the police against the legislator on April 9 for allegedly manhandling him and threatened to move the court for seeking justice.
The official had also alleged that he was pressurised to give construction contract to a close aide of the MLA besides demand of Rs 20 lakhs by him.
He had claimed of apprising the then DM and CDO of the demands of the MLA and that he had not been meeting the legislator on their advice.
Rai, however, rejected all charges made against him. While accusing the official of being corrupt, he said an inquiry of the works done by him would be conducted by the TAC (technical audit cell) and alleged that recovery proceedings of over Rs 12 lakhs were going on against the engineer.
District Magistrate Satya Narain Srivastav said a detailed report on this issue has been sent to the government.
