An engineering student was killed after a truck hit him near Yamuna Expressway following which a group of students today blocked traffic movement, police said.
Rajat Mahajan, a B.Tech third year student at Galgotia college here, was hit by a truck last night while he was walking after he got down from a bus at the zero point of Yamuna Expressway, they said.
Mahajan was coming back from his home town at Kasganj, they said, adding that his body was only detected today morning.
Alleging police negligence a group of around 200 students held protest at Pari Chowk today evening and blocked traffic.
"We fail to understand why PCR van which is stationed at zero point could not notice the injured student. Had the police noticed him timely he could have been taken to hospital and his life may have been saved," students alleged.
The injured student was laying along the road for the whole night and died due to excessive loss of blood, they alleged.
However, policemen claimed that due to impact of the collision, the injured student had fallen far away at a site unnoticeable from the road.
Superintendent of Police(Rural) Brijesh Singh said, "case has been registered against truck driver for causing death due to negligent driving. Inquiry is being conducted about the students allegations against the PCR staff. If found guilty action will be taken against policemen.
